Chapter 67 - Hoping It Would Never End

Beth has been so busy with her new firm and the kids, she's given very little thought to the gender of the baby that she has growing inside her belly.

She's liking the idea of being pregnant, a little more, but fear still motivates her to take it easy and not overdue it.  She's in her office, one that she shares with Jon, making some phone calls when Stephanie walks in, "Hey Beth?"

"Yeah Rose, what's up?"  Beth says, looking at her over her reading glasses, smiling at the beautiful young woman that stood in front of her.

Stephanie has two dresses in her hand, "Which one should I wear tonight?"  The kid looks torn and Beth can tell that she's tried on at least 10 others before she decided on the two that she's presenting to Beth.

Beth gets up and comes around her desk, taking the dresses from Stephanie.  She holds each one up infront of Stephanie and gives her opinion on each, "This one will make you look older, it will make you a knock out.  I'd be shocked if your dad let you out of the house in it.  The gray pulls out the blue in your eyes.  I love this one."  She switches dresses, "This one makes you look like you're headed to a stuffy tea party.  Wear the gray one."

"What about dad?" Steph questions, "Will he let me wear it?"

Beth laughs, "Just make sure you have a shawl or maybe a sweater over it when he sees you in it for the first time."

"What shoes should I wear?"

Beth thinks for a minute and remembers that they bought her some shoes the last time that they were on vacation, "Wear those Jimmy Choo's we bought, those gray and black high heeled ones.  Those would look great with that dress."

"Are you sure?"

Beth nods, "You'll look amazing, Rose."

Stephanie hugs Beth and thanks her.  With Beth in her arms, she says, "I can feel your baby bump."

"Yeah, the belly is getting bigger, day by day."  Beth rubs her belly, "Are you ready for another sibling?"

"Yes.  Romeo isn't fun anymore, now that he's a boy." Stephanie jokes about it, but follows it up with, "When are you and dad going to tell everyone?"

Beth walks back around the corner of the desk and sits back in her chair.  She glances at her screen and sees that she has a few important emails - but they do not rank more important than Stephanie.  "What's you dad and brother's doing?"

Laughing, Stephanie says, "Jenn is down there trying to give them all haircuts, but the two little ones are being butt heads."

"Really?" Beth is shocked by that.  "That's not the way they normally act.  Should I go help dad?"

Stephanie shakes her head, "No, him and Pete have it handled.  I can just see that dad is frustrated."

"Who do you want me to call in and do our hair?" Beth asks Rose, needing to get them someone to do their hair for the nights event.

"I can do it."  Stephanie tells Beth, "I can give us really cute up do's that everyone will love."

"Are you sure?"  Beth looks at her and smiles.  Over the last few weeks, her and Stephanie built the great relationship that they already had even stronger.  Beth will agree to whatever she wants, when it comes to their hair.  "How long do we need?"

"Maybe an hour."

Beth looks at the clock on her computer, "So, I need to be done here before 7?"

Stephanie nods her head yes, and adds, "I may need you to help me with mine."

"No problem, I only have a few more things to do in here and then we can get started, if you want?"  Beth assures her that she is on board and loves the idea that Rose will be doing her hair, for her big night.

The Bongiovi/Adams family had a dinner and drink reception for the grand opening of Beth's investment firm that opens in one week.  Her and Jon worked tirelessly to make this happen for her, before he hits the road for the Circle Tour.

The reception was Mrs. B's idea and she put it all together.  Anyone that had money, that is anyone to Bongiovi will be there tonight, even the likes of Warren Buffet.  Beth had to fight a no compete that she signed with Deloitt, but Peter Laird made all of that go away.  With the no compete out of the way, Beth feels pretty confident that she will get Warren on board, making him the first of many.

Stephanie starts to leave the office and turns back to Beth, "Come up in about 2 hours.  I should be ready by then."  With her dresses in hand, she continues with, "What are you going to wear?"

"It's a secret."

"What?" Stephanie pretends to be sad, giving Beth a pouty face, but Beth isn't falling for it.

"I had a gown made for me, to fit and hide my expanding belly.  No one has seen it, and no one knows about it.  It will debut tonight."

"What color is it?  Is it long like mine?" Stephanie is going to pump for info.  "Who's the designer?"

"It's Versace.  The color is kind of a coral, a pink - if you will.  It's gorgeous.  You're going to love it."

"Okay fine, I'll see you in my bathroom in two hours.  Will you be done by then?"

"Yep!"

"Okay."  Stephanie exits the office, just as the phone rings.  She answers it, "Hello?"

"Beth?"

"Yes, whom am I speaking with?"

"Beth Adams?" they lady on the other ends confirms that she has the right Beth Adams.

With a heavy breath, expressing her displeasure, Beth says, "This is Beth Adams, what can I do for you?"

"You don't know me, but you know all about me.  Forgive me for calling you like this, but I have some information that I think you may like to know."

"Who are you?" she demands to know.

The caller says, "Who I am isn't important, what I know is the information that you need."

"Not knowing who you are, makes your information useless to me.  Please do not call me again."

Beth takes the phone from her ear, when she can hear the caller, "Please don't hang up."

"What do you want?"  Beth snaps.

"I have information regarding Jon and Dorothea."

"Info regarding what?" she asks, with a tone in her voice that the caller knows that Beth isn't happy with what's about to happen.

As she had them words out of her mouth, Jon appears in the doorway and he can see that Beth isn't happy.  He walks to her desk and sits on the corner, "Who is that?"

Beth shrugs her shoulders.

"What do they want?" he blurts at her, seeing that she's upset.

"She has info on you and Dot that I may want to know."

Jon takes the phone from Beth and asks the caller, "Who the hell is this and how did you get this number?"

The caller is silent, but Jon can hear noise in the background.

"What do you want?" he gets louder with each word, as he can see that Beth is starting to wonder what the hell this person knows, or thinks that they know.

"Give me back my phone Jon."  Beth reaches up and snatches it from him.  He gives her the stink eye and attempts to take the phone back, but she's too quick and her stink eye was a little stinkier.

Beth says into the phone, "What do you have to say?"  She has no patience and isn't going to play the game.  She's been in the clan long enough to know how to handle this.  She feels that it's a fan that somehow got her number and is trying to create trouble.  When there is no response, she hangs her phone up.  Beth has learned to not let that stuff get to her, she knows that there are fans out there that will stop at nothing, will do whatever it takes to be in Jon's life - one way or another.  Whether it be a 'hello' at a show, or an over priced meet and greet, they stop at nothing for him to look their way.

"What did they say?" Jon questions her, making her feel like she did something wrong.

Beth gets up from her desk, turning off her desk lamp and says, "She said that I know all about her, and that she has info on you and Dot."

"What kind of info?" he barks.

Beth shrugs her shoulder again and says, "They didn't say.  It was probably just a fan, don't worry about it."  She steps around him, he grabs hers arm and stops her.

"There is no info regarding me and Dot."

Beth looks at him, "I know baby, I know."  And she walks away.  Jon sits there on the corner of her desk for a few minutes and tries to figure out what might be going down, and who it might be.  He has no idea, and having spent too much thought on it already, he decides that he's going to go help the boys get dressed.  As he walks down the hallway, from the office to the stairs he can hear Romeo laughing his little butt off.

Following the sound, he finds the boy in the living room with Beth.  Beth is on the floor with him playing Hungry Hippos and Romeo thinks it's the most fun.  Beth was winning, but she would never let Romy know.  His smile and his laughter were like drug, the littlest of it - the more you want.  Jon stands in the door way and watches them.  Beth sees him standing there as she works her hippos, she winks at him and he snaps a picture of them with his invisible camera - etching that moment in his mind forever.

  2. My spidey senses tells me Jon is hiding something from Beth. Did he sleep with Dorothea when he was in Florida and lied to Beth about it?
