Chapter 90 - You Gotta Understand, Baby

Beth calls the doctor office and schedules her induction for Saturday afternoon.  She and Jon picked the weekend, so that everyone that wanted to be there, could be there.

She has to be to the no later than 7 am.  As soon as she's prepped and ready, they will break her water and wait for the natural progression of childbirth take over.
They spent the week getting ready, since they didn't take the time to prepare for her over the last several months.  With the finishing touches on her bassinette, Beth stands back with her hands on her hips and smiles.  Jon walks up behind her, wraps his arms around her expanded waist line and asks, "What are you smiling about?"  She tips her head back and rests it on his shoulder.
"I never thought I would see this again." she tells him, with the biggest case of butterflies she has ever had.   "Tomorrow we will get to see her, touch her and hold her."
Jon squeezes her a little tighter, "Tomorrow you're going to be a mommy, again."  he kisses her ear.
"Are you ready?" she asks him, even though this is number 7 for him.
"I am SO ready, I can't wait to see her beautiful face and hear her first cry."
Beth reaches back with both hands and grabs onto his neck, "She's going to look like you and act like me."
"Oh no, she better have your looks and your personality, or I'm selling her to the highest bidder."
As they stand there, they hear Stephanie, "Dad, Beth?"
"In here, Rose." Beth responds to her.
Stephanie finds them in the nursery off of the master suite, noticing the bassinette and that it was finished, "Wow, Beth!  That is so pretty."
"Thanks, do you think she'll like it?"  Beth laughs, knowing how silly the question was.
"She'll love it."  she turns her attention to her dad, "Hey, gram and gramp want you to call them.  Gram wants to come over tonight but I told her not too."
"Yeah, she can meet us at the hospital tomorrow." Jon comments as he lets Beth go.  He reaches over and tousles Stephanie's hair, "What do you think Steph, are we ready to bring a baby home?"
"Dad we are over ready.  I counted 30 bottles, why do we need bottles if she's going to be breast fed?  And do we really need all of those diapers in the storage closet?"  Stephanie is making light of the plethora of things that they received from all of the baby showers that they had to attend."

"When it comes to babies, you can never have enough." Jon states, as a matter of fact that he knows first hand.  "Oh shit, I almost forgot."   He walks over to his dresser and pulls out a small teal bag that says Tiffany & Co. on it.  He hands it to Beth.

She smiles, "What is this?"

"Stephanie and I picked these out, she has one too.  Open it."

Beth opens the drawstring on the bag and reaches in and pulls out 3 bracelets.  One says mom, one says dad and the last one says McKenna Rose.  She looks at them and smiles.

With the mom one in her hand, she asks Stephanie, "Will you put this on me please?"  She hands it to the girl and extends her arm.  Stephanie puts the delicate bracelet on Beth's arm and then silently shows her the one that she has on.  Beth has tears in her eyes, only because with each passing minute they get closer to being a real family.  She is so close, yet it feels so far away.  Beth then puts Jon's bracelet on him and places McKenna's in her keepsake box that Beth started the moment that she found put she was expecting.

Jon and Beth make sure that everything at the house is taken care of.  They have no idea how long they will be gone, staff is on site to take care of anyone that might need to go to the house.  Dani is staying with with Romeo, he's certain that he doesn't want to go to the hospital.  He doesn't like hospitals.  The house, kids and dog are all taken care of.

The Bongiov's sit down and have dinner, as a family.  They have a feast since Beth can't eat after midnight on the off chance that they might have to operate.  All four children, Jon and Beth have a great time at dinner.  Homemade cheeseburgers, french fries and the 5 people that mean the most to her are at her side, this is the last night that they will ever be like this.  Tomorrow they welcome the new addition and all the fun that goes with that.

  2. Giving Beth the bracelet that said "Mom" on it was a beautiful gesture on Jon's part.
